Once your place is booked but before your child starts Nursery, we will offer you and your child the opportunity to attend 'settling in sessions'. Settling in is a gradual process that will help you and your child to feel more comfortable and confident in the nursery. You will leave your child for longer periods of time on each visit, and then on their first day, you will be happy and reassured that your child is contented and settled. You are welcome to stay in Nursery as long as you like with your child, until you are satisfied that they have adapted to their new environment and are happy.
We ensure that you are given every opportunity to talk to your child's Key Worker and other Nursery staff. Good communication between staff and parents is vital, as it will enable us to provide full reports on the progress your child is making and answer any questions you may have.
We are keen to provide good communication between parents and staff. All children have a booklet that is completed daily, briefly detailing information regarding your child's day, such as what they have eaten, nappy changes, sleep, etc. The parents can also write in the booklet to let the staff know about those little things that affect the child that might get forgotten at drop-off time.
Newsletters are sent home throughout the year (printed and by email) and we have an open policy for parent feedback – in the booklet, via email, over the phone or face to face. Appointments are available with your child's key worker upon request.
These newsletters are produced for parents and will detail Nursery activities and promotions taking place, changes to policies, general information, updates on the Nursery staff team and any other information which you, as a parent should be aware of.
There are notice boards around the Nursery that contain specific information for each area and the activities or events taking place.
We operate an equal opportunities policy irrespective of cultural background and recognise different festivals throughout the year.
Our cook produces nutritious home-made food on the premises every day. The children have breakfast, a mid-morning snack, hot home-made lunch and dessert and tea (all-day children receive all of these, morning/afternoon children receive the meals applicable for the time of day).
The menu changes monthly and there is a summer and winter menu according to the time of year.
Our cook will take into account any allergies or preferences of the children, according to our food policy.
No nuts are used in any of our cooking.
